So, it’s the middle of January already…time it is a-flying.
I spent Wednesday afternoon and evening with Zhang Tuan. We met up in front of People’s Park, then went to my place to look at photos and relax. After that we made a trip to the roof of the apartment building to see the city skyline, then strolled around Jian Kang Road’s night market, eventually making our way over to People’s Park again.
When I’d bid Zhang Tuan farewell at about 8:30pm, I then met up with Sean (new foreign affairs manager at our school), who treated me to a buffet at the Crown Plaza Hotel. This was quite a treat considering it’s the only western buffet in the city. Among the delicacies I had that night were smoked salmon, garden salad, barbequed chicken wings, sushi, and sauerkraut. Yum yum yum. Oh, and for dessert I had chocolate truffle cake. Although it was all great food, I doubt it was worth the bill. Sean wouldn’t let me see it, but I’m sure it was hefty.
Today I’m studying for the most part. I’ve got a private tutoring lesson this evening; for a one-hour class, the parents of that child pay me 80 Yuan, which is enough to buy 1.5 sweaters, or lunch for two weeks, or 40 pairs of socks, or a lot of green tea, or….well. It’s enough.
