舒婷 Shu Ting

我如果爱你—— If I love you

绝不像攀援的凌霄花， I will by no means be the climbing flower

借你的高枝炫耀自己： Which feels glorious of showing off herself relying on your high branches

我如果爱你—— If I love you

绝不学痴情的鸟儿，I will in no way copy those love-lorn birds

为绿荫重复单调的歌曲；repeating the humdrum song for the green shade again and again

也不止像泉源，nor will I simply copy the spring heads

常年送来清凉的慰籍；delivering the comfort of coolness all year round

也不止像险峰，增加你的高度，衬托你的威仪。 Nor will I be a high peak,adding to your greatness and majesty

甚至日光。Nor will I give you sunshine

甚至春雨。 or the rain of spring

不，这些都还不够！no , all of these are far from enough

我必须是你近旁的一株木棉，I must be a seqoia beside you

做为树的形象和你站在一起。 Standing, a tree, with you

根，紧握在地下， with our roots holding tightly beneath the soil

叶，相触在云里。And our leaves touching one another in the clouds

每一阵风过，after every gust of the warm wind

我们都互相致意，we greet each other politely and emotionally

但没有人 but no one

听懂我们的言语。 Can interpret our whispers

你有你的铜枝铁干， you possess your own brass-like branch and iron-like trunk

像刀，像剑，like knife, like sword

也像戟，and like a halbard

我有我的红硕花朵，I have my scarlet flowers

像沉重的叹息，like a weighty sigh

又像英勇的火炬，and like a stout torch

我们分担寒潮、风雷、霹雳；we share cold waves , storms and thunders

我们共享雾霭流岚、虹霓，and also share mist and sunlight ,and rainbows

仿佛永远分离，our parting appears seemingly without end

却又终身相依，but we accompany each other all life long

这才是伟大的爱情，this is true great love

坚贞就在这里: the constancy lies in the conception that

不仅爱你伟岸的身躯，loving you does not simply loving your strapping body

也爱你坚持的位置，脚下的土地。But also means loving the position you insist on , and the ground beneath your feet
