ZT and I were just out on a ride around town. We took my electric bike, and traced a graceful loop around the city. It's a pleasant ride in the summer, especially later at night when few cars are on the roads. The dim yellow glow of the roadside lights give everything a quiet feeling, surreally dislocating you from scene after scene of basically unforgettable snapshots of real life: people chatting and eating and drinking roadside; mangy dogs chasing each other across roads; watermelon trucks sneaking into and out of the city; a star bravely shooting past every light and every odd, just to show itself to us; even just a park entrance or housing complex with a certain shadowing to it --- it all starts to feel like more than it really is, and that's a nice feeling sometimes.

That hectic, bustling mess people call the real world, as you probably know, sucks. So leave it once in a while if you can. Get on something faster than it, and you can escape its gravity for a time: the longer and faster you move, the further away you get.

Heading to bed now.

Hi Chris:

I am new to your blog. In fact the way I found your blog was through Hong Lao wai's youtube videos. I think in one of his video clips he showcased a bit of your "Socialism Rocks" "performance" along with others. Then I watched the entire song of "Socialism Rocks". My first impression of that video was not much different from other people who left comments on the youtube about this song. However, fortunately I also checked whole bunch of your other videos. Then I realized that how interesting, funny and deep (sometimes deep with sarcasm) your videos are. I remember the video response you made to the person who said your video was not deep enough was hilarious. It was such a deep video, literary too. I like your humor. The other one called "Questions and Answers" left me with a very strong impression. I watched it several times and every time laugh out loudly.

So regarding the question about the future direction of your blog, my personal view here is I love the way it is right now. The reason I like your blog and videos is its variety. With variety you can attract more audience with different tastes. Even the same audience would like to see changes sometimes. You might concentrate on translation for a while, or for another period just be interested in making videos discussing cultural issues. I think you should just go with the flow like what you are doing now instead of limiting yourself in a certain area.

Hopefully this helps. I am looking forward to seeing more exciting things on your blog.

Good luck with your exam
